International Missions Ministry Announces a Mission Trip to Kenya, Africa from January 31 - February 14, 2012.

"... and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

In February of 2012, a small group of SMPC members will be going on the second church-sponsored trip to East Africa. The purpose of the trip is to partner with the Kenyan people and the Presbyterian Church in East Africa (PCEA) in constructing a much needed church and school out in the plains of Maasai land. The church will be built in an area where people have been worshipping under trees or in houses. These basic churches are built in just three days. The receiving congregation supplies the land, concrete flooring, and some labor. Our team will do the rest. Similar churches are now serving as places of worship on Sundays and as schools during the week.

Kenya is in dire need of schools. Existing schools generally are very run-down and not well maintained. Nearly 60% of school age children have no school to attend on a daily basis. The PCEA has a vision to provide a future with hope for the children of Kenya. We will help in making their hope more tangible by building a school for the Kenyan children.
